When you take into account the small size of the city of Grande Prairie you may find yourself wondering if you can keep yourself busy enough if visiting on a holiday. Inside city limits is just part of the beauty we call the Peace Country as surrounding communities and the Grande Prairie lifestyle is what makes it’s cultural, culinary and entertainment explode. If you’re fortunate to spend a few days in Grande Prairie AB there’s little chance you will be able to see everything the area has to offer…but it might be a fun thing to try and accomplish.

Visiting the location is just the beginning. If you’re someone who looks forward to a good nights stay in a hotel that provides quiet luxury accommodations with good food you can look no further then the GP Inn situated right next the Prairie Mall in Grande Prairie. If you’re looking for some more “big city” style moments be sure to check out the Grande Prairie Live Theatre. It’s always showcasing some of the most famous plays new and old from local community actors as well as some other big name productions you might be typically aware of.

If nightlife is more your thing the city has got you covered. Grande Prairie has an abundance of options both big and small to satisfy your craving for a night out on the town. For a more “bar” like atmosphere be sure to check out places like The Crown and Anchor, The Lions Den Pub and Maddhatters liquid Lounge. Smaller social settings would include places like Earls, Original Joes, Moxies and others.

Sports in Grande Prairie comes in a wide variety. In the winter months hockey, skiing and outdoor recreational sports such as skiddoing take the primary focus. In the summer time you can find almost anything to do no matter what you are looking for. Grande Prairie is home to the nordic trails for the mountain biking and hiking enthusiast. It is also home to a handful of beautiful golf courses in the area, The Dunes Country Club, The Grande Prairie Golf & Country Club and Bear Creek are all courses within city limits. If you venture a little further into the Peace Country you can find some more breathtaking golf locations.

High school football, slo-pitch leagues and other minor baseball round out just a few other sports options for those visiting Grande Prairie.
